Botanicals


Forbes Forest Finds has a bulk non timber forest product division to its operation as well. We have produced bulk plants for the commercial operations throughout the world. We take pride in our ability to have our botanicals harvested in a manner that provides a supply of the natural products for years to come. Our pickers are trained to only take a small percentage of the available crop produced by nature so that it will remain a viable commodity for years to come.  With that in mind we have filled large commercial orders for the following products for large companies worldwide and welcome any inquiries into the availability of products you may be looking for. Seneca Root– Seneca Root is an expectorant which is why it is used commercially for the production of cough medicines and to treat other bronchial ailments. This product is hard to find in the market place and we are one of only a few producers for it.

Sweet Flag Root Traditionally used as a cold medicine and research is being done to discover its full potential.

Chaga Mushroom This slow growing fungus that grows on birch trees has recently been discovered and is reported to have the highest antioxidant levels of any product known. The chaga mushroom has been used to treat several of the diseases that are common in today’s society such as certain forms of cancer, diabetes, stomach ailments and so on. There is lots of research going on to discover the possibilities of this all natural product.

High Bush Cranberry Bark – High bush cranberry is shown to relieve spasms which for the most part means it relieves cramping. Therefore it is used in medicines that are made for that purpose.


Black poplar buds – Known for its healing properties, black poplar buds is one of the ingredients in many salves that are made in the marketplace. It has been effective in the treatment of eczema and other skin conditions. There has also been some use as a natural substitute for vapour rubs.

Fireweed (willow-herb) – Fireweed besides being the first plant to grow after a forest fire has gone through an area, is used in the makeup industry. It is harvested when it first starts to flow as after it flowers the seed head produces large amounts of seed coated in fluff which is undesirable for industry use.

Spruce and Pine cones – With the harvesting of forestry products, that being trees, there is the need to replant the removed trees so wildlife and other living organisms have a place to call home. To that end Forbes Forest Finds has completed many cone collecting contracts to supply the reforestation companies with the seedlings to plant the forestry cut.

Wild Sarsaparilla Root – Wild Sarsaparilla is a member of the ginseng family and is quite often mistaken for wild ginseng. They are very similar plants with the only recognizable difference is wild ginseng has red berry clusters and Sarsaparilla has black.  Wild Sarsaparilla is used medicinally to treat upset stomachs and sore throat to name a few. It is used mainly be chewing on the root or rhizome or making into a tea.

Sweet Grass Braids– Made from sweet grass these braids are the finest that money can buy most are large in size measuring upwards of 28 inches. These braids are authentic meaning they are produced by indigenous peoples for sale to others that require them. We handle our braids with the utmost respect for the traditions of the individuals making them. These braids are used primarily for the ceremonies of indigenous peoples and are burnt as part of the ceremony. We sell the braids for $6 per braid but do sell in very large quantities for lower prices.
